Voice SMS

For the customers who do not read your texts.

A recorded voice call reaches people a text never will — feature-phone users, older customers, anyone who does not read comfortably in English or at all. It plays in their own language, needs no internet, and asks for nothing more than answering the phone.

  • Reaches feature phones and smartphones alike
  • Any Indian language, in a human voice
  • IVR keypresses returned as data

A recorded call does not care whether the phone cost ₹1,000 or ₹100,000, whether there is data on it, or whether the person holding it reads English. That is the entire argument for voice.

Language count per the Eighth Schedule to the Constitution of India; sending window per TRAI’s TCCCPR. Reach statements describe what the channel structurally requires, not campaign response rates — those depend on your list, script and timing.

What you get

Everything in the box — nothing extra to buy.

Pre-recorded voice broadcast

One recording, delivered to thousands of numbers as an ordinary phone call. Professional voice-over or your own recording — your choice.

Any Indian language

Hindi, English, Tamil, Telugu, Bengali, Marathi, Gujarati and more. The message arrives in the language your customer actually thinks in.

IVR response capture

Add “press 1 to confirm, press 2 to reschedule”. Responses come back as structured data you can act on, not a call log to sift through.

DLT & DND compliant

Registered under TRAI’s TCCCPR framework, scrubbed against the Do Not Disturb registry, and scheduled inside the 9am–9pm window permitted for promotional calls.

Reaches every handset

No app, no data, no smartphone and no literacy requirement. If the phone rings, the message is delivered.

Call reporting

Answered, unanswered, busy, duration and IVR keypress — per number, per campaign, exported however you need it.

Where it wins

Built for businesses like yours.

Clinics & hospitals

Appointment reminders older patients actually receive, with “press 1 to confirm” so your front desk stops chasing calls.

Schools & coaching

Fee reminders, holiday notices and emergency alerts to parents — in the regional language, without assuming an app.

Housing & local government

Water supply, maintenance and civic notices to a whole locality in one broadcast, including residents who do not use messaging apps.

Field services & collections

Payment due reminders and visit confirmations with keypress responses, so follow-up goes only to the people who need it.

How it works

Live in three steps — we do the heavy lifting.

01

Record

We script and record the message, or clean up the audio you already have, in the languages you need.

02

Register

DLT registration and DND scrubbing completed before a single call is placed.

03

Broadcast

Calls dial out on schedule; answers, keypresses and failures come back as a report you can act on.

Straight answers

The questions everyone asks before signing.

What is voice SMS?

Voice SMS — also called voice broadcast or OBD, outbound dialing — is a pre-recorded audio message delivered to a list of numbers as an ordinary phone call. The recipient answers and hears your message. It needs no app, no internet connection and no ability to read, which is why it reaches audiences that text and app-based channels miss.

How is it different from a call centre?

A call centre uses live agents having individual conversations, which is powerful and expensive. A voice broadcast plays one recording to thousands of numbers at a fraction of the cost, and can capture a simple response through keypresses. Many businesses use broadcast for the routine message and route only the people who press a key to a human.

Can people respond to a voice broadcast?

Yes, through IVR keypresses — “press 1 to confirm, press 2 to reschedule”. Those responses come back as structured data against each number, so you get a list you can act on rather than a call log to interpret. You can also route a keypress straight through to a live agent.

Which languages can I use?

Any language you can record. We commonly deliver Hindi, English, Tamil, Telugu, Bengali, Marathi, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam and Punjabi, and we can arrange professional voice-over or use a recording you supply. Matching the language to the audience matters more for voice than for any other channel.

Is voice broadcasting legal in India?

Yes, when done correctly. Commercial voice calls fall under TRAI’s Telecom Commercial Communications Customer Preference Regulations, which require registration, respect for the Do Not Disturb registry, and promotional calls only between 9am and 9pm. Nucleus Ai handles registration and scrubbing, and will not run a campaign that breaches the framework.

When should I choose voice over SMS or WhatsApp?

Choose voice when your audience includes feature-phone users, older customers, or people who do not read comfortably in your language — and when the message benefits from tone, such as a reminder, a warning or a civic notice. Choose SMS or WhatsApp when the message contains a link, a code or anything the recipient needs to keep. Many campaigns use voice first and SMS as the follow-up that leaves a written record.

What reporting do I get?

Per-number disposition — answered, unanswered, busy, failed — plus call duration, how much of the message was heard, and any IVR keypress. Campaign-level summaries are exportable, so you can feed responses straight back into your CRM.

What does a voice campaign cost?

Voice is billed by connected call duration, usually in per-second or per-30-second pulses depending on the operator, plus our setup and management fee quoted in writing. Unanswered calls cost nothing. We show the operator cost and our fee as separate lines on every invoice.

Compliance before the first ring.

Commercial voice broadcasts sit under the same TRAI framework as SMS. Registration, DND scrubbing and the permitted calling window are handled before a single call is placed — because an unregistered campaign is the sender’s liability, not the platform’s.
